I took the train down to Toronto this morning and have been walking non-stop since I arrived. I came in for the Whole Life Expo which is one of my favorite health shows. It’s become tradition for my friend Patti & I to meet up to do a tour of the booths and socialize with like-minded people. Patti – SimplyRaw moderator, makes a scrumptious sprouted Essene bread so if I’m lucky I’ll bring home a few loaves. When I’m in town, I really enjoy wandering through old neighborhoods (I lived here in the 80’s) and making rounds of the health food stores, Kensington Market and raw-friendly businesses.
Getting enough greens can be challenging while travelling so I usually order a liter of freshly pressed green juice “to go” from Noah’s to ensure this. Wheatgrass is available at most juice bars (they’re so many of them here!) so going without isnt a problem in this city. I do travel with dried E3AFA, Vitamineral Greens (available through SimplyRaw), chlorella and phycomin just in case. A few other staples that I bring travelling are avocados, dulse, nori, hemp seed, chia, bee pollen and apples. (they don’t bruise like pears or bananas)
When in Toronto, I make it a point to eat as often as possible at my all-time favorite place, Toronto Sprouts. I find that living foods are so much easier on my digestive system than the heavier gourmet fare and Toronto Sprouts serves the most nutritious, most vital salads in town. The salad/sandwich combo is made purely from sprouts heaped on a slice of dehydrated bread, and it’s definitely worth the trip. Doesnt my lunch look vitalizing AND delicious? Toronto Sprouts also offers fresh juices, smoothies, wheatgrass and various sprouts.

I am sorry to hear that Montreal’s raw restaurant Viva Laurier has recently closed. Viva opened in early 2007.
