Thought I’d make one of my rare appearances on the SimplyRaw blog as I had the opportunity to visit Rawlicious today with my Dad and sister Laura. They have a really lovely space on Dundas – a great size with a couple of small tables in the front, flooded with natural light; and more tables in the back for when it gets busy. Over the course of the one and a half hours that we were there, the restaurant had a healthy flow of people coming and going, especially for a Tuesday evening.
We each tried one of their smoothies, and I was happy to see the good selection of green smoothies available. I opted for the simple Nameless Green – Kale, Orange, Mango, and Cinnamon. Few ingredients but very tasty! My dad had the Tropical Green smoothie, and Laura enjoyed the Raspberry Beret.
Not wanting to pass up on a good opportunity to be treated to a good variety of raw dishes, we shared the Dip Platter, which included Mexican and Herb & Onion crackers with Olive Tapenade, Mango Chutney, and Sunflower Dill Pate.
After that we had the Nut-loaf Patty Wrap, the Taco Wrap, the Raw Pizza, and the Zucchini Noodles with tomato marinara sauce. Mmm yummy.
For dessert we had the strawberry cheesecake, and apple pie – really delicious!
It was very inspirational to visit such a wonderful raw café, and enjoy their amazing creations. The setup is very much as I envision the SimplyRaw café in Ottawa. We’re working hard to bring it all together, and provide such a delightful experience to the Ottawa community.
