As the stores start to fill up with Christmas decorations and sales, and Christmas parties start up, I thought I’d share a few tips on staying raw (or mostly raw) during the holiday season. It can certainly be a challenging time with lots of social events revolving around food, an abundance of food choices on offer, and lots of questions and pressures from family and friends about dietary choices.
Be Prepared!
The best advice I can give is to be prepared for any occasion!
- always carry raw snacks and options with you
- if you’re going to someone else’s home, either let them know in advance that you’re raw and send them some easy recipe options; or offer to bring a dish of your own
- restaurants are very accommodating – ask for a custom dish of raw vegetables and salad
- bring your own salad dressing to restaurants
- offer to host your own vegan/raw potluck; and invite others to do so – can be fun and interesting
- give the gift of health – get your friends and family a raw recipe book, or gift certificate to a SimplyRaw food-prep workshop or our detox program
On the last point, Natasha is offering a new festival holidays food-prep workshop this December (Sat Dec 13) to help you & your family & friends learn how to make some simple and incredibly delicious holiday dishes. Check out all the details, and be sure not to miss this amazing new workshop! We’re hoping to fill this workshop (maximum 15 people), so please help spread the word by sending around our Festival Workshop Poster.
Do you have any tips to share about having a happy, healthy raw holiday season?
