Last night I hosted my 2nd Christmas Cookie exchange with a few close friends and family. My mother started this tradition 3 decades ago and it’s still going strong every year. Being vegan now, she recently jumped ship and joined me in a healthier, raw (vegan) version…

A cookie exchange is a fun & delicious way to collect a selection of holiday treats without having to prepare them all yourself. Plus there’s the added bonus of enjoying a visit with friends, family and other health advocates. They are simple to organize: each guest brings a big batch of homemade cookies (approximately 1 dozen multiplied by the number of people participating) to swap with others.

I also provided a few light snacks to nibble on while spending a cozy time together. A platter of cut-up veggies, some raw bread, and 2 types of raw vegan cheese (dill and peppercorn) as well as an optional glass of organic wine. As you can see, the cheese was a hit.

We also shared many belly laughs.

What a great excuse to get together.

And you end up with enough raw cookies to get you through the holidays!

Now that’s a sweet deal.

Right, Mark?

today’s food log:

2 ozs e3live

firewater

Bio superfood algae

l liter green juice (sprouts, kale, lemon, celery)

2 macaroons (homemade and delicious!)

1/2 avocado with sauerkraut & dulse

savory green soup

raw v cheese w/veggies

slice of raw bread

Blessings for a joyous and healthy Christmas.

Natasha

xxx

I was recently invited to speak at TEDxOttawa. In case you don’t know, TEDx events are slick, professional conferences held throughout the world where innovative people share compelling nuggets of wisdom and insight in an engaging, creative manner. Started in 1984, TED brings together the brightest minds to give the talk of their lives. Past speakers have included Richard Branson, Al Gore, Bill Gates, Bill Clinton, and Jamie Oliver, as well as endless other less-known scientists, professors, designers, artists and trailblazers – all innovators in their field.

TEDx was created in the spirit of TED’s mission “ideas worth spreading” to give communities and individuals the opportunity to stimulate creativity through TED-like experiences at the local level. The all-day conferences follow a similar format: speakers are recorded in front of a live, “by invitation only” audience which are then posted online.

To be honest, I hadn’t heard about TED or TEDx until mentioning my invitation to Mark one night as we were getting ready for bed. “TEDx?!” he exclaimed. “That’s an awesome opportunity!!” And then, in a more serious tone “You better be prepared.” I guess Mark knows that I can be a bit unstructured at times, and in many respects, we’re complete opposites. He’s Mister organized, very systematic and linear whereas I’m creative, intuitive and sometimes, well, scattered. We even rock climb differently: he tends to study the climbing problem for a few moments and then executes his moves accordingly, while I just feel things out as I make my way along the route. When I give talks or presentations, I have a tendency to forgo the cue cards and “wing things” instead. Speaking at TEDxOttawa was suddenly intimidating, especially knowing that my talk would be filmed and then available online for everyone and anyone to view and comment on.

A month went by, and then, just a few weeks before the big event, I began to scramble. I never used power point before, but thankfully hubby hooked me up — finding images, helping with layout and the other techie stuff I have so little patience for. Mark was also my one-man audience, offering me sound advice, feedback, and above all, support.

A quick run-through during our anniversary get-away

Although I felt quite honored being invited to speak at TEDxOttawa and not too nervous about public speaking, I was concerned that the audience may not connect with my own personal story. Being the first time that I had spoken out about my struggles with anorexia/bulimia, a lot of old emotions surfaced. Talk about raw … and very cathartic.

Eating a banana shortly before going on.

I also popped a handful of BAC and drank half a bottle of E3live directly before going on.

Seriously.

You should have seen Mark’s expression!

Struggling with the mic and messing up my hair!

It was quite the experience. And the feedback was overwhelming!

Sometimes it’s okay to be vulnerable and be honest about our struggles.

Hopefully in doing so, we can touch and help others …

(Please watch this on Youtube and leave a comment. Thank you, I appreciate it!)

I blogged back in July about getting back into running, and actually enjoying myself…

Well 3 months later I’m happy to say that I’m loving it even more! The more I run, the more I want to run! This summer has definitely been pivotal for me as a runner. I’ve managed to avoid injuries, increase my runs to distances I never thought possible (and I’m only getting started!), enjoy a couple of races, and my recovery after (most) runs is good. I’m very happy with the 1/2 marathon distance I ran the other day, and I’m debating whether to do the half or full national capital marathon next spring.

I’ve been practicing some of the core principles of Chi Running, which I think has helped me a lot to avoid injury. I’m also religiously taking BioSuperfood F3 – available from SimplyRaw -a couple before the run, a few during my longest runs, and a couple after the run to help with recovery. I also like the Vega lineup of vegan products to help with performance before, during and after exercise. Of course I also follow a 100% vegan diet, with lots of raw foods – Natasha & I have been doing a lot of veg juicing lately; plus the daily (or more) green smoothies!

I also seek out the wisdom of elite (vegan/raw) athletes – in particular their diets. One very inspirational athlete is elite long distance runner Tim Van Orden. Tim started the Running Raw Project a few years ago, and is now a world class athlete competing (and winning) in some of the toughest running races – up mountains! And he does it fueled by raw vegan foods!

Tim Van Orden at the 10K U.S. Nationals

I’m really looking forward to welcoming Tim to Ottawa again this Friday Oct 28 at the SimplyRaw Potluck (he was in Ottawa for the 2010 SimplyRaw Festival). I’m sure Tim will share some valuable insights into following a raw foods diet; how it’s helping him to excel at running; and hopefully some training tips as well!

I’m definitely keen to keep pushing my running limits this winter, and any advice on how to do it better will be an awesome help! Hope you can join us!

Why are people so cheap when it comes to their own health? We don’t seem to have a problem with spending big bucks on electronics, our homes, or other material possessions, yet when it comes to the expense of maintaining our health, it’s just “too expensive.”

I’m always amazed at how most people spend more time and money on their cars than they do on their own bodies. We maintain our automobiles by doing whatever it takes to ensure that we have reliable, smooth running vehicles: we check the fluids regularly, change the oil every few thousand miles, watch tire pressures, and some people check obsessively under the hood at the slightest little rattle! Even when our car is running well, we know how important it is to schedule routine appointments with the mechanic for tune-ups.

Yet while we worry about feeding our vehicles with premium gasoline, we dump the cheapest junk into our bodies – our own precious vehicles – ignoring the fact that our bodies also need maintenance to operate at peak performance. Think about it for a moment: our cars are manufactured to last anywhere from 8 to 12 years, and we can replace them at any time with another one just like it. Or if we wish, switch to a different model —even a flashy sports car, for that matter! After all, our car is a replaceable piece of metal: if it breaks down, we just replace it with a newer, faster, stronger, and better-looking upgrade. We may have many cars during our lifetime, but only one body to last our entire life.

When we get a scratch or a dent on our car, many of us are devastated. But do we get as upset when we increase our cholesterol by 100 points, or are overweight by ten pounds, are tired, or feel older than our age? Sadly, most people just shrug it off, blaming it on genetics, bad luck or a “large frame”, and continue eating artery clogging foods —without giving it another thought.

The truth is, most of us go about our daily lives without really thinking about our health or about the foods we eat every day. We are either too lazy, too busy, too cheap, in denial, or have serious food addictions. Isn’t it true that most of us don’t realize the value of our health until we lose it? We neglect our health until we have a problem, and by the time we realize that we need to take better care of ourselves, it is often too late. However, if we had looked after ourselves in the first place, we wouldn’t have had any health issues.

The prevalence of disease today is at an all time high, and it has become synonymous with our modern society. Did you know that the two leading causes of death, heart disease and cancer, were barely even a concern just a century ago? Cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity, and lung disease are now the leading causes of death and disability in Canada. They are lifestyle diseases that can be prevented (and often reversed) by changing the way we live, through proper nutrition, physical activity, and other important daily habits.

In today’s world, each and every one of us are exposed to chemical impurities through the air we breathe, water we drink, and the foods we eat, every day. And most people are so clogged up with toxins that their bodies cannot operate optimally: a toxic body leads to inflammation, impaired immune system, weight gain, skin irritations, hormone imbalances, sluggish metabolism, nutritional deficiencies, infertility, and diseases. Unless you’re living in a bubble, it is crucial for everyone to cleanse the internal body of toxic buildup and accumulated waste, minimally twice a year. Cleansing is the first and most important step to optimal health!

Out with the old, in with the new!

The principles of detoxification are three-fold: first, limit exposure to toxins and irritants; second, increase the elimination of toxins from the body; and third, restore optimal nutrition. Most people overlook the importance of cleansing and the fact that you have to get rid of the junk first before putting in good food! As a health practitioner and raw foodist of twenty-one years, I have seen thousands of people dramatically improve their health by routinely cleansing their bodies. The 28 day SimplyRaw Detox is unique in that it uses fresh, raw plant foods to cleanse and then nourish the body with the highest quality of “fuel” for it to perform in peak running condition. It is not a superficial “detox in a box” available at the store, but a guided program that teaches and empowers people to make informed lifestyle choices. (Visit www.simplyraw.ca for inspiring video testimonials from past participants)

Yes, just like our cars, we need to do a little maintenance on our bodies too. You don’t wait for symptoms (i.e. a blown engine) before you change the oil in your car, do you? No matter how busy your schedule is, or how tired you may be, make sure to give your body its routine tune-ups, beginning with a nutritional cleanse like the SimplyRaw Detox Program.

Far too many people come to me for nutritional guidance when they’re already faced with a health crisis. Sadly, most of us spend the majority of our younger years intent on gathering wealth. Then, as we get older, we end up spending most of our wealth to re-gain our health and lost sense of well-being!

Don’t wait for the warning signal to come on! Start your engine and do some tuning up now. Before you know it, you’ll feel more like a brand new Jaguar than that tired, old clunker. Remember, we only have one body to last our entire lifetime!

I was never a good runner. Before this summer the longest distance I had ever done – in my life – was 10K, and that was only once. I ran the Ottawa Capital 10K race back in the mid 90’s.

I was in my early 20’s, and in good shape, but I never enjoyed running. I struggled to get into it to improve my fitness, but I never like it. Running was always a chore.

Part of the problem was that I wasn’t a very good runner, I had a hard time with recovery, and I always seemed to injure myself whenever I worked myself up to about 7-8 km.

This summer has been a radically different experience. I’m enjoying myself! In fact, I am thoroughly enjoying running – so much so, that the more I run, the more I want to run! I had a truly euphoric experience the other evening on a trail run that took my appreciation to another level. So what’s been different about running this time around?

There are a number of key factors contributing to my newfound love of running, and one of the key factors dates back to this past winter. I was downhill skiing a lot – most days in fact – preparing for a week of skiing in Banff with Mischa, my 15 year old stepson who has boundless amounts of energy, recovers like an elastic band, and can ski all day without resting. I was a bit worried that I’d end up completely spent after the first day, and miss out on a lot of great skiing.

Natasha was telling me great things about all the health benefits of BioSuperfood (BSF), including how it helps for sports performance and recovery. So I thought I’d give it a try. Dr. Kiriac advises building gradually to increased amounts of BSF, so I started with a few per day, and increased slowly.

By the time the Banff ski trip came I had been taking BSF F3 for about a month, and I certainly saw some benefits – I survived the trip (although with a day off here and there!), and enjoyed some of the best skiing ever!

Since then I have been consistently taking BSF F3 (about 8 per day) every day. I say “about” 8 because I take extra before and after a strenuous workout.

While the ski trip was great, the biggest change I’ve noticed is in my running, and in particular my running recovery. I used to get calf cramps so bad that I would wake up screaming in the middle of the night from tight calf muscles. My back would hurt, my knees would hurt, my hips and feet would hurt. Most injuries that you can get from running I would get. Fortunately nothing really serious, just enough to require that I stop running for a week or two to recover.

I now take two BSF F3 before and two after each run and my recovery is amazing. Very little cramping, only a few aches and pains, but nothing like I used to get.

I’ve recently started to introduce some other changes as well to try and build upon my success. I picked up a copy of “Born to Run” and it’s an amazing read! The book is giving me some great inspiration and great tips about how to improve my running distances. I’ve also started to read “Chi Running” and will be looking to incorporate some Chi Running principles to improve my form.

Finally, and one of the most important factors is my diet. Granted, I’m blessed to have married raw food chef and health expert Natasha Kyssa, who has a wealth of knowledge! But I haven’t changed my diet very much in the past year. As a 100% vegan, mostly raw foodist, I eat lots of nutrient-rich, high-mineral, all-natural plant foods. Here are some of the things I’ll eat in a typical day:

Green smoothie – how I always start my day! Varied greens – sunflower sprouts, spinach, lettuce, kale, parsley; a couple of bananas; Vega Whole Food Supplement; maca powder; soaked chia seeds

Fruit throughout the day – bananas, berries, cherries, mangos

Dates, nuts & seeds – small amounts throughout the day

Vega bar (or two)

Young coconut water – especially good after a run

Big green salad

Hummus with baby carrots, or a vegan burger

Another smoothie to end the day

Some indulgences (not every day)

SimplyRaw cheesecake – yummy!

Sequel maca chocolate

GT Kombucha … ok, most days (!) … but they’re good for you right?!?

I have no idea how many calories I eat. When I’m hungry or snackish, I eat. But I do take the BSF F3 regularly throughout the day – trying to space out 8-10 capsules at regular intervals.

I admit that I wasn’t exactly thrilled about the idea of turning fifty. Who is? I mean, how did all those years fly by so fast? 50 years old? That’s half a century! I can’t be! People retire in their fifties. People play golf in their fifties. They become grandparents and celebrate victorious wedding anniversaries, momentous birthdays, and well, funerals.

Turning a half century is a big deal, and for many, it can be a traumatic experience. The empty nest that results when our children leave for college, the adjustments of reaching an older age bracket, and the vast array of physical and emotional changes that occur with the golden years can all be challenging. Fifty is an entrance into the next stage of one’s life, and whether we welcome it or not, it represents a phase that brings us closer to the end of life rather than to the beginning. At fifty, we see things differently. Our whole experience shifts and is suddenly lit from a new angle, into an unfamiliar world whose colors and depths are nothing like what we’re used to. And life is no longer what we thought.

Hitting fifty is also a time in which our bodies undergo many changes, and women often greet this transition with various degrees of trepidation. But can you blame us? Our youth begins to fade, our metabolism slows down, we require reading glasses, and we now have intimate relationships with our hairdressers. Coupled with new life issues and the fear of growing old, many women also agonize over menopause and the metamorphosis of their bodies into what seems like a cruel trick of Mother Nature. Suddenly (and very inconveniently), we must face the “change of life” and its many bodily manifestations that we seem to have no control over. This transition can trigger a long list of annoyances, among them hot flashes, hormonal fluctuations, wild mood swings, low sex drive, bloating, lapses in memory, extra love handles, and insomnia. Not to mention blemishes, loose skin, and of course, drooping breasts. Yes, gravity does suck.

In today’s youth driven culture, women are pressured to look young, be thin, and infinitely beautiful. And, regardless of how liberated we’ve become, many women (men too) still view aging as a threat to their sense of self worth because they have somehow lost their physical beauty. That’s why the beauty industry is one of the most profitable industries – we spend billions of dollars each year on temporary “anti-aging” cosmetics, hair colors, plastic surgery, eyelid lifts, tummy tucks, and even Viagara to defy the ravages of time. Whole industries have been built on the desire to stay young!

Regardless, aging is a natural process that is inevitable for everyone. As a matter of fact, the aging process started the first moment we were born – it is part of life that cannot be botoxed away! Granted, no one wants to really look their age (myself included), but if we spent just a fraction of the money we waste on skin care products (or invasive procedures) on our food, we would see notable changes in not only our appearance but overall health!

So what does it take to be young, sexy and vital at midlife?
Since adopting a raw food lifestyle two decades ago, my health (& life!) has been completely transformed. Along my journey, I was often alone and teased for eating such a weird, “unnatural” way. (Isn’t it strange how fresh fruits and vegetables are thought to be unnatural yet most people consider packaged, processed as the norm?) Sadly, many of these same people are now overweight, inactive, dehydrated, in pain, and suffering with various diseases. When we’re young we can get away with a lot, but as we grow older, our past eventually catches up and we’re reminded that we cannot escape those poor nutritional choices and other bad habits of our youth.

As the saying goes, “you are what you eat”, and when we consume a nutrient-dense, plant-based diet we have more energy, we lose unwanted weight, our skin glows, and aging seems to slow down. After all, the skin reflects what is going on internally, and when we are healthy on the inside, our complexion exudes a natural radiance. You cannot have beautiful skin or a healthy lean body if it’s loaded with toxins!

Research confirms that many health challenges including weight issues, acne, allergies, low energy, and aged skin can be linked to the presence of toxins in our body. This is why detoxification is so important. Periodic cleansing can remove the accumulation of waste and impurities in our bodies. It is the first and foremost important step to looking (& feeling) your best!

Aside from eating a clean diet, I also cleanse seasonally with great benefits. And at 50, I feel more energetic and balanced, my skin is softer, and my weight – which I struggled with in my youth – maintains itself without any effort whatsoever. I’ve also witnessed thousands of clients transform from dull to glowing, and diseased to healthy, just by completing a simple, food-based 28-day cleanse such as the SimplyRaw Detox Program. When your blood is clean and cells nourished, your whole body finds its balance. You look better, feel better, and slow down the physiological aging process naturally.

We cannot escape time or change the cards that nature dealt to us genetically, but premature aging, heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, and weight gain are not synonymous with getting older. How we look and feel depend directly on how we fuel our bodies. Good nutrition plays such an active role in how we age, so the sooner we pay attention to what we eat, the better. The truth is, we can look and feel good at any age!

It’s never too late to change.

In today’s fast-paced world, most of us are balancing family, long work hours, overscheduled activities, and social obligations. We live in the age of technology where we can communicate instantaneously across the globe through email, text messaging, cell phones, and satellite. Most of us have blackberries, laptops, PC’s, iPads, iPhones, and other electronic devices that allow us to connect, schedule, read email, and be as up to date as possible. But have you noticed that the majority of the population also seems to be overwhelmed, anxious, and just a bit stressed out?

Our hurried lives make it difficult to consume balanced meals, and people often eat on overdrive: we skip breakfast, eat on the run, and/or grab something quick and easy, often from a fast food outlet. In fact, the average person today exists on convenience foods – we seem to measure meals by minutes – if it isn’t fast, it doesn’t fit into our schedules!

Although our kitchens are bigger and better equipped than ever before, fewer families prepare home cooked meals. Long work hours and irregular schedules mean more time away from family, less time for food preparation, and difficulty in maintaining regular meal patterns. Cooking has become a chore – who has the time (or energy!) to prepare meals when we can buy something already prepared to toss in the microwave? Instead of sitting down to a quiet, home-made dinner with the family like we used to, parents are no longer home at the same time as their children. Instead, children often have a frozen dinner waiting for them, or they’re given money to buy whatever they feel like after school. As a result, convenience foods have become an integral part of many people’s regular diet – despite the fact that we recognize that these types of “foods” are detrimental to our health.

Studies show that children of families that frequently eat fast-food dinners also tend to make poor food choices at home, favoring chips and soft drinks over fresh fruit and vegetables. This can signal the start of a lifelong struggle with obesity and the health problems associated with being overweight. Processed foods are devoid of nutrients, and no matter what the advertisements say, they are full of sugar, salt, saturated fats, and chemicals to give them a longer shelf life. (Real foods don’t have labels!) Most processed foods are nothing but empty calories — good for business, but not good for our health!

Childhood obesity has become a national epidemic, tripling over the last 20 years – the main contributors being lack of physical activity, and excessive consumption of processed, packaged foods. Disturbingly, as the numbers rise, so do the numbers of children with severe health challenges such as heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, and cancer – conditions that were once confined to only adults. According to the New England Journal of Medicine “obesity is (such) a problem that this generation of children could be the first basically in the history of the United States to live less healthful and shorter lives than their parents.” Canada is facing the same problem.

A healthy diet is essential in helping children grow and develop correctly, and parents play a significant role in shaping their children’s eating habits. Habits that can last throughout their lives. Along with providing a loving environment, teaching children healthy eating and lifestyle habits should be a priority in our long list of parental tasks. We need to make nutrition a priority and set good examples for our children by preparing and eating a variety of fresh real foods. If you are making and eating healthy foods yourself, and do not have junk food in your home, your children will learn to like the foods that you are offering to them.

Most parents go to great lengths to keep their children safe: we hold their hand when crossing the street, teach them not to touch the hot stove, and tell them not to talk to strangers. Yet, the majority of parents feed their children harmful, refined food without considering the consequences!

Simple habits can go a long way to help guide your children to better health choices. Always have an assortment of fruit available in the house, and ensure that it is cut-up and peeled for easy access. Include vegetables as part of every meal: fresh veggies such as baby carrots, cucumbers and sprouts are light, tasty and nutritious. And, kids love smoothies. Blended drinks are also a wonderful way to slip in nutritional “extras” such as hemp and chia seeds — without them even knowing! Finally, talk to your kids about healthy eating to help them understand the connection between food and health.

One of the best gifts we can give our children is a strong nutritional start. The choice is ours. Remember, good nutrition starts at home and if we don’t teach our children healthy eating at home, we’re setting them up for a lifetime of poor nutrition and substandard health!

I was recently invited to give a talk at the Ottawa Green Show in Ottawa a few weeks back. Although I always have ongoing SimplyRaw projects to keep me super busy, I rarely turn down the opportunity to expose new people to healthy eating and the raw lifestyle. As I rushed toward the stage on that particular day, I suddenly got an eyeful of some very lovely clothing displayed at the Yes World Boutique booth. Well, as someone involved in the fashion circuit for years, I couldn’t help but want a more intimate view (and feel) of these very enticing clothes. I know good quality when I see it.

Designer Suzanne Wyman launched her company Yes World Boutique with the intent that all woman feel fresh and beautiful in her eco-friendly lifestyle designs. Recognized by DKNY as one of the significant eco designers in North America, Suzanne designed her unique collection of certified organic cotton with versatility and adaptability in mind. Comfy, unique pieces that move easily from active wear to weekend wear, to rocked out dinners and parties on the town. Exactly my kind of clothing!

I quickly tried on a few pieces and was thrilled to find such gorgeous styles and material. (Something I rarely come across) The organic fabric was super soft and I just loved the comfort of the clothing. It was too hard to decide between all the unique designs and colors (YES I bought more than one piece!) – especially since I was scheduled to appear on stage within just a few moments! Ah, priorities.

Below I’m wearing another gorgeous shirt from Yes World Boutique for a Living Foods Workshop that I taught. Don’t I look like one happy organic goddess?

Incidentally, Suzanne not only cares about the environment, fashion, and dressing her eco-conscious customers. She is concerned about radiant health and is currently doing my 28 day detox program. Way to go, Suzanne!

As a raw vegan of 20 years, I’m often asked whether I take any vitamins. I’ve always been a firm believer in getting nutrients from fresh, whole foods: I juice daily, grow nutritious sprouts, drink green smoothies and wheatgrass, and eat my share of dark leafy greens. (Btw, vitamins are not foods but only isolated parts of food. They are missing nature’s life-supporting nutrients and synergistic co-factors) In an ideal world, we should be able to get all the necessary nutrition simply from eating a well balanced diet of nutrient-dense living foods. Unfortunately, because our food contains a smaller percentage of the nutrients that were available in the same food during the early 1900′s, good diet alone is no longer a guarantee of optimal health. Our soil is also given synthetic fertilizers and pesticides that add heavy metals to our food supply. To add to this, today’s society is exposed to much stress and environmental chemicals daily. This is why I believe that virtually everyone needs to complement not “supplement“ our diet with the right, whole food concentrates such as algae.

Got algae?

Algae is the first and most ancient food on earth, at the bottom of the food chain. It is the most nutrient-rich food created by nature, used for centuries by indigenous people. There are thousands of species of algae (though many un-edible), however, BioSuperfood (BSF) is far superior than any basic algae such as chlorella, spirulina, or any single algae (or blends of algae for that matter) found in health food stores. It is a whole food blend of four micro-algae carefully grown, harvested, preserved and proportioned. Together these algae contain thousands of naturally occurring nutrients including proteins, vitamins, minerals chlorophylls, antioxidants, fatty acids, enzymes and much more!

Bio Superfood was developed during 20 years of research by Russian scientist Dr. Michael Kiriac, who has dedicated his life to the finding of natural solutions for human and animal health. After many years of researching all kinds of isolated vitamins and supplements, as well as chlorella, spirulina and other micro algae, he formulated a blend of 4 species of micro algae that was able to halt cancer in many of the research animals. Because of his success with various cancer, he was asked to work with the Health Ministry of Ukraine to distribute Bio-Algae Concentrates to radiation victims after the Chernobyl disaster in the Soviet Union.

BSF has powerful, rejuvenating, healing and nourishing effects on the body and brain. It is highly bioavailable unlike other algae. Formula 3 is used for advance action towards nutrition, health maintenance, anti-aging, immune system support, weight loss, dieting and fasting, fitness and bodybuilding, and helping therapeutically in the correction of nutrition related health deficiencies and problems.

As someone who has been consuming algae (spirulina, chlorella, AFA, etc) since the early 80′s, I could not believe the remarkable effects of eating BSF. Within 6 weeks of using Formula 3, all my joint pain completely vanished! I also felt much more balanced hormonally. Biosuperfood formula F3 is unlike no other algae on the market - my days are not complete without eating it! Friends, family and clients are also reporting positive effects including an overall increase in mental alertness, less lactic acid build-up, improved sports recovery, short and long term memory, greater energy, improved eyesight, creativity, dream recall, and better sense of well being and mood.

For a copy of Dr. Kiriac’s free e-book, or to pick up a bottle of BSF, please contact me directly at detox@simplyraw.ca

We are very pleased to announce that Dr. Kiriac will be joining us as a guest speaker at our next potluck on Friday, February 25 @ 8pm. Please don’t miss this must attend seminar to hear about the culmination in cellular nutrition as shared by Michael Kiriac, PhD, ND. Dr. Kiriac is an extraordinary man who dedicated more than 30 years of his life researching and proving the “culmination of cellular nutrition”, the most advanced concept in brain nutrition, and its potential for human health. There will be a question period and samples of algae for all.

BSF can also be ordered here: http://ww11.aitsafe.com/go.htm?go=www.bioage.com&afid=15721&tm=180&im=1

Here is a great testimonial from Ottawa’s own Guy Lacroix:

Lack of Pain

“For the first 2.5 month, I did not notice much in terms of difference for good or worse. I was encouraged, though, by the lack of cleansing reactions as i had experienced on other algae products previously so I persevered.“

I started with BIOSUPERFOOD F2 formula with the standard protocol increasing daily to 6-10 capsules. I started seeing some increases energy levels around that time. More precisely, I would say that my energy was more constant throughout the day and preventing that fatigue at the end of the work day.

Then I started using F3 from 6-10 day. 2 capsules 3 times per day seemed to be the right dose for me. Gradually, I noticed that I felt stronger during my training activities such as extreme skiing and cycling. What first surprised me was the lack of “pain” in the legs from lactic acid generation. This was very exciting because I found myself being able to push harder and tax my aerobic system instead of the legs. I first noticed this in a fun New Year’s day cyclocross race. I had not been on the bike for close to 2 months and normally my legs would of been hurting from the effort, but instead i found myself feeling great. Later, I continued to experience similar things in my skate skiing. Going 40 kilometers on skis without the usual cramping and breakdown of the body. Overall, my mood is upbeat and positive and simple exciting to know that my cells are getting the best nourishment.

I am excited to continue taking BIOSUPERFOOD and push my level of performance.
