We taught another live food class at the Great Canadian Superstore for the “What’s for dinner” series this afternoon. Mark & I have been teaching at Loblaws over the past 8 months and the response has been-very positive. Mainstream is definitely becoming more conscious of food and healthy lifestyle which is exciting to see. We even gave a sprouting workshop to a full class that went over very well!
After our class, we shared a wonderful lunch at the Pantry – Ottawa’s best kept secret. My mom opened the Pantry Vegetarian Tea Room some 30 years ago, and I spent lots of time there as a teenager washing dishes, waiting on tables and of course, eating. The Pantry is very quaint and cozy, and has a special old-world feel. It hasnt changed much in years and is my favorite place in Ottawa. Located in the Glebe Community Center at Lyon & Third Ave. in the Glebe, Caroline now runs the show. The food is mostly cooked but if you ask her, she’ll do up a special raw salad. Make sure to order a large salad with extra red cabbage – it’s absolutely delicious!
