With the ongoing sub-zero temperatures and abundance of snow, many of us are fast becoming fed up with this year’s drawn out winter season. Others, such as my very energetic husband, are embracing the final stretch of snow sports and feeling the SPRING! (See Mark in photo springing for spring)
As far as myself goes, I have to say that since purchasing my infrared sauna over one year ago, Canadian winters are an absolute breeze. Seriously. I rarely complain about winter anymore, and my friends all know just how much I love my sauna 🙂 In fact, it’s one of the best investments I’ve ever made. Whenever I’m feeling chilled, I warm it up for 30 minutes, grab all my paraphernalia (books, water, towels, dry skin brush, etc.) and step in. Within moments I am relaxed and heated to the core.
Infrared light is part of the sun’s invisible spectrum and it really penetrates deeply into the body, producing a warming and relaxing effect. Despite the lower temperatures, it really does feel as though one has been basking in the sun. These saunas are based on infrared technology and are more effective as the heat reaches deeper in the skin unlike conventional saunas. This deep heat penetration allows the removal of toxins, heavy metals and plastics.
Some health benefits of the FIR saunas include pain management, detoxification, weight loss and skin purification. Sauna therapy also helps with fibromyalgia, arthritis, chronic fatigue, muscle stiffness, eczema, fungus and parasites. If you’re interested in purchasing one, make sure that you buy one from a reputable company. I researched infrareds for 3 whole months before making the grand purchase and boy, am I glad I did my homework! My SaunaRay may cost more than the average sauna, but you really do get what you pay for. Trust me. Sauna Ray is the leading manufacturer of infrared saunas for Canada’s health industry. Their products are guaranteed toxin free cabinets and medical grade heaters. If you’re interested in buying a SaunaRay, I’d be happy to share what I’ve learned about them. Also please note that when you order a sauna through SimplyRaw, they’ll throw in a free large bag of minerals with your purchase.

In my last post, I mentioned that Mark & I were going away for a romantic weekend together. Well, we ended up staying at a very lovely hotel with a beautiful view of the Gatineau hills. The weekend was a perfect blend of the outdoors, physical activity, dinner at Soup’Herbe and then lounging in the outdoor pool/jacuzzi/sauna/steam room. Oh, and of all things, the casino. So how’s this for champagne?
Hi there, thanks for your comments about SaunaRay back in 2008. Are you still satisfied with your sauna? Would you still recommend one of their units? Do you find that the actual ceramic heating units become too hot or do you find them inconvenient in their corner positions? Do you know whether the actual ceramic elements are plates or rods? There are so many conflicting opinions of Ceramic vs Carbon elements and which is safest and best to use without even going to the competitive pricing thing. I really do like what SaunaRay states about their material, construction practices and philosophy. Hope you do not mind sharing your opinions and experience. Thanks in advance, Jeff in North Vancouver B.C.
Hi Jeff ~ Yes, I still absolutely most definitely LOVE my SaunaRay and highly recommend their units. Truly, it’s one of the best investments I’ve ever made… The ceramic plates (and heat) are perfect and have never been an issue for me.
If you do order one, please let me know. And don’t forget to say hello to Rodney for me! 🙂
Hi Natasha,
Like Jeff, I also want to ask if you are still pleased with your SauraRay sauna 4.5 yrs later? Have you had any problems with it? Is there music built into the saunas? Thinking of this brand potentially for a registered massage therapy clinic. How difficult or easy was it to install? We’re located in Ottawa so can pop by your new store to chat more about it. Congratulations by the way. It’s great to have a raw food store in Ottawa finally.
I am wondering if you are still enjoying your Saunaray sauna? I am researching infrared saunas right now & am overwhelmed with all the options …
