There’s no question about it: eating healthy means different things to different people, and most people consider themselves to be healthy. Over the years, I’ve come to realize that the phrase “I eat healthy” is used quite liberally and the average person can get very defensive about their diet.
Every day, I encounter people who say they eat healthy. Some people think that their animal “protein” is healthy, some believe their favorite whey powder is healthy, while others are convinced that their cooked-to-death, vegetarian or processed vegan diet is the ideal. (I’ve also met many raw foodists who believe that their high fat raw vegan diet devoid of fresh juices and leafy greens is good for them) The fact is, most people are in denial (not to mention addicted!) about their eating habits. Although they may be eating some healthy foods, they are also polluting their bodies with refined, packaged products. Think about it – if your food comes in a box, can, jar, bag, glass or carton from the supermarket or health food store, it’s been processed! Processed foods have been altered from their natural state and contain chemical additives, preservatives, food colorings, hydrogenated oils, and salt which can have serious detrimental health effects on your body.
Amazingly, many “healthy eaters” are student, athletes, yoga teachers, nutritionists, dieticians, nurses, proprietors of vegetarian restaurants, doctors, naturopaths, homeopaths – you name it – they are intelligent and informed people. Many of them are in the health field. Yet, when it comes to what they put into their own mouths, they are clueless about the real health impact of the foods they choose. (Isn’t it funny how many of us have a short term memory when it comes to our own eating habits?)
The truth is most of us go about our daily lives without really thinking about the foods we eat every day. In fact, most people seem to care more about their cars than their own bodies! They spend a great deal of time and money on their cars with regular maintenance, tune-ups and oil changes to ensure that their cars are in top running condition so they don’t break down suddenly. However, when it comes to their own “vehicles”, they are either too busy, in denial, or have food addictions.
The majority of people take their health for granted until something goes wrong, only to rush to the doctor’s office to “cure” the symptoms by prescribed drugs. Symptoms (colds, headaches, stomach pain, runny nose, fever, and so on) express the body’s attempt to heal, but are not the causes of health problems. Symptoms, therefore, should not be suppressed. Plus, if we had paid attention to our health all along, we would have been able to avoid illness in the first place!
The human body has an inherent natural healing ability that continuously wants to repair itself. For example, when we cut our finger, there is little we need to do but put a band-aid on it to prevent infection. Over time, the body does the healing. The same is true with most injuries or illness. It is important to support this natural healing system.
In today’s world we are all susceptible to toxic overload through the air we breathe, water we drink, and the foods we eat. In fact, most people are so clogged up with waste that their bodies cannot operate optimally. A toxic body leads to inflammation, impaired immune system, weight gain, hormone imbalances, sluggish metabolism, nutritional deficiencies, and illness. Unless we support our natural healing system by removing these obstructions and changing our diets, true healing cannot occur.
The removal of accumulated toxins and metabolic waste from the body is accomplished through the process of detoxification. With the proper conditions and ingredients to both cleanse and nourish, the process of detoxification allows our body a chance to clean itself out and set the stage for regeneration, where old tissues are replaced with new ones. Our body’s ability to naturally heal depends on this detoxification process.
In my line of work, I see thousands of people who have corrected deficiencies and regained their vitality by doing The SimplyRaw Detox Program, a proven, effective program, available world-wide. The SimplyRaw Detox is a gentle, 28-day cleanse that doesn’t depend on cleverly marketed “superfoods”, superficial products or supplements, but rather focuses on live foods that cleanse and nourish, both critical for healing. Please be wary of store-bought products that promise quick solutions, or inexperienced people trying to make a buck. Always verify credentials!
If you experience digestive trouble, lack of energy, allergies, poor complexion, brain fog, arthritis, auto-immune disorders, diabetes, aging, high blood pressure or cholesterol, it’s high time to give your body an overhaul. For those carrying excess weight, detoxification is a critical component of shedding fat permanently. After all, fat storage = toxicity!
Like a car, the human body needs clean fuel and regular tune-ups to optimize its performance, and each one of us is responsible for our own precious vehicle. (The more our vehicle is used, the more attention it requires to keep it running in good order!) As long as we work together with nature, and give the body nourishment and proper tools, it can and will repair itself. There are no shortcuts!
How you treat your body on a day-to-day basis will determine your health’s future. It’s simple: if you take control of your habits and live within nature’s law, you’ll reap the rewards. Yes, you have the power to turn your health around!
So, make the commitment to cleanse and nourish your way back to health today. Stop making excuses — tomorrow may be too late!
Wishing you and your loved ones a very healthy 2011!
